Scentlok Activator-Ozone Laundry Appliance

Editors Note: This product review was originally posted on the Ladies In Camo website February 2, 2017

There are alot of products on the market that can block scent or cover it up.  But the Scentlok Activator Ozone Laundry Appliance is designed to stop odors before you leave the house. A few months ago, we installed this appliance and found that it did indeed stop ALL scents; from workout clothes to business casual clothes that may have some lingering perfume or deodorant. I wanted to dedicate some time to this product before doing a review. I am glad I did as I can tell you from day one, the scent in my washing machine, dryer and the clothes has been non existent.

Usually I wash my clothes with detergent and due to the detergent there is a lingering smell of perfumes in the laundry room. I happen to like a nice clean smell in my clothes but that very same smell is completely unwelcome when it comes to my hunting clothes. Right before breaking out the camo, I’m wiping appliances down and running baking soda in my empty washing machine. Now I don’t need to do that because my clothes and my laundry room is scent free all year.  If I really do want scent in my clothes I just use a scented fabric softener sheet in the dryer.

The installation process is really simple.  The ScentLok Activator is hung on the wall.  One hose goes from your cold water faucet to the port labeled “Cold Water In”.  Another hose is connected to the port labeled “To Washing Machine” and attaches to the washing machine.  As you can see from this picture, ScentLok Activator does require a 120V electrical outlet. The electric being used must be pennies as I have not seen a difference in electrical bills.

Here’s how the process works:  Cold water enters in through the cold water port.  Ozone gases and electrical charges are injected into the water. The treated water then leaves the ScentLok Activator and enters your washing machine.  The Scentlok Activator can be used on either front or top loading machines.

Another benefit of the ScentLok Activator is the fact that I am using ZERO laundry detergent -haven’t bought the stuff in months!  The water treated by the Activator not only takes the odors away but also removes dirt. So far I have removed stains from mud, coffee, spaghetti sauce and mustard.

I did not pretreat; just threw the clothes in the machine and let the ScentLok Activator do the job for me.  All of this in cold water only.

We have a very active household that includes two dogs. Over the past year one of my dogs became very sick. I wont go into the details but let’s just say the dog’s bedding smelled bad. I was going to throw everything out. Instead,  I thought well here’s a great test. If the ScentLok Activator can eliminate the smell from my dogs bedding I will be convinced.  One wash – no smell.

There is also a Desiccant Dryer on the right side of the ScentLok Activator. This removes moisture from the air and helps the performance of the Activator.  When the crystal turns pink it is time for the cartridge to be replaced.  It’s been a little over 8 months and I still have not had to replace the cartridge.

The ScentLok Activator Ozone Laundry Appliance has an MSRP of $319 and can be purchased at:
